Team Kairos at Millwall’s Community Day
Millwall Football Club invited Kairos Community Trust along to their annual Community Day last Saturday (15 April). This is an opportunity for local charities and organisations to set up their stalls for a few hours and talk to the public about our own services in the community. This year Kairos was represented by a team from Bethwin Road – Lee Slater, James Hopkins and Dominic O’Gorman and Dominic’s son, Freddie, who came along for the experience. As well as talking to the public and fans about the Kairos Community Trust pathway services, we managed to sell a few cream eggs in their world famous hand-knitted yellow and green chicken covers. We managed to raise a few pounds towards the Lourdes pilgrimage 2023, which was a bonus.
The weather was kind to us and we had a fantastic day, full of laughter and community. We were also given complimentary tickets for the game as well, where Millwall were playing Preston North End, still in with a chance of the playoffs for the premier league. Millwall won the game 2-0 and the atmosphere was fantastic.
Thank you Millwall for your welcoming hospitality, you have a great community aspect at your club and this was a privilege to be part of this. We wish you all the best for your remaining fixtures and your ultimate goal of promotion to the premier league. Up the Lions! – Dominic O’Gorman
