Mindful Photography exhibition brings workshops to a joyful close

Last Friday marked the final workshop for our 2025 Mindful Photography collaboration with Mindful Photo Lab, wrapped up with a much-loved exhibition of participants’ work at Linden Grove.

Led by Pierre Bureau of Mindful Photo Lab, the eight-week series took Kairos community members all over London: Kew Gardens, the Tower of London, Brick Lane, Greenwich, the Tate Modern… and more.  Each week paired mindful observation with photography, encouraging participants to notice, reflect and create.

Mindful photography combines the outer lens of the camera (well, smartphone) with the inner lens of meditation to capture not just to capture what is seen, but how we see. It’s a process of slowing down, paying attention and capturing the moment.

Over a dozen people joined the course back on 21st March.  Workshops ran weekly for two hours, blending modern technology with a mindful approach to observation and creativity.  Volunteer Baz did a great job of assisting Pierre throughout.  Finally, last Friday, photos were chosen and captioned by participants, with prints displayed at the exhibition and a framed photo for each person to take home.

Our huge gratitude and appreciation once again to Pierre and Mindful Photo Lab for making it all possible.

“I was really impressed, and genuinely taken aback by the quality of the photos. They really captured the spirit of the workshops, and there was such a positive energy in the room.”
Matt Dear, Move-on manager

“The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, no pressure.  Just like Pierre!  I’ve learnt to notice things I’d usually miss, whether looking up above me or even through a bin to see how it could frame the view beyond.  It inspired me to think differently about colour, shape and space and I’ve realised I love taking pictures in black and white.  And to top it all off, it was a beautiful way to get to know more people across the community.”
