Supporting recovery through counselling
Counselling and psychotherapy help people in recovery work through their experiences, address challenges and break the cycles of addiction. Having the right support in place is essential.
February is a perfect opportunity to recognise the role of counselling in recovery, with awareness initiatives such as Time to Talk Day (6th February) and Children of Alcoholics Week (9th–15th February) reminding us why open conversations matter.
At Kairos, placement counsellors work alongside staff to provide structured, professional support across multiple settings: at Linden Grove, in our recovery community in North London and through our Recovery Communities programme in Southwark.
Now approaching its first full year, Recovery Communities Kairos Counselling supports up to 20 clients at any one time, with five placement counsellors providing weekly one-to-one counselling. 24 weeks (six months) of support is available, helping people from both within Kairos and the wider Southwark community to explore the drivers for their addiction, improve emotional wellbeing and work towards long-term change.
Kairos Community Trust is proud of the work taking place across our organisation to ensure people have the support they need. Thank you to all our staff, placement counsellors and partners for your dedication and hard work.

- The Recovery Communities programme is delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Southwark.
- If you are a member of the wider Southwark community who is 28+ days drink and drug free and would like to learn more about our one-to-one counselling, contact Adrianna for more information: adrianna@kairoscommunity.org.uk, tel.: 07443 200 513, or through the Kairos Head Office on 020 8677 7292
