Postcard from Lourdes 2016
Sceptre and crown must tumble down and at the grotto be equal made with the poor crooked scythe and spade, writes Mossie Lyons, adapting the words of poet James Shirley.
Lourdes is a great equaliser. There we share a common humanity, a common frailty and scraps of faith. From 17 to 22 September, 27 men and women from Kairos joined the annual Oblate pilgrimage. We went to help with the 96 assisted guests of the pilgrimage from Ireland, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones. Humbling, satisfying, embracing, tiring, uplifting – these are just some of the words that sum up the experience. As a text from Dublin put it – “Well done, guys :)”
