Postcard from Medjugorje, 2025
Between 7 and 14 June, ten Kairos residents, along with support worker Martina Cullen and Kairos founder Father John Kitchen, visited the shrine of Our Lady of Medjugorje and the surrounding area in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The trip, which has been attended by many from Kairos over the years, was once again made possible by the generosity of a long-standing sponsor who prefers to remain anonymous.
In Medjugorje, the group was looked after by guides Peter, Brian and Julia. Our thanks to them for their invaluable support. Martina described how a strong sense of connection developed across the group, with everyone taking part and supporting one another throughout the week. The week was full of memorable moments. One highlight was a 5am climb up Apparition Hill with Ivan, one of the original children who first reported seeing Mary there in 1981. Others included a visit to the Cenacolo community, which offers a residential programme for people in recovery, and the breathtaking Kravica Waterfall (pictured above). These were just three of the many stops that left a strong impression on the group during a varied and reflective week.
Two more residents will travel to Medjugorje in September, with another two due to go in October.
