Kairos marks two years of Lottery-funded support in Brent

Kairos is marking the completion of the second year of National Lottery Community Fund support for the Kairos Prisoner Response Project in Brent.
This funding has enabled us to continue providing safe accommodation and dedicated support for our north London residents as they rebuild their lives in recovery. Over the past year, more than 30 people have lived in the Kairos community in Brent.
Among this summer’s highlights was a gardening project led by a former Kairos resident with a passion for horticulture, who joined current residents to plant shrubs and flowers. The garden, which was already a popular shared space, has taken on a new life through their work.
Weekly one-to-one counselling also continues to be offered free of charge by two dedicated counsellors, one male and one female, supporting residents as they settle back into life in the community.
In August, seven members of the Brent community attended the closing night of The White Chip at Southwark Playhouse, a recovery-based production that had transferred from Off-Broadway. It was a chance to share in a story of recovery and to explore the new possibilities that open up along the way.
This grant continues to strengthen our recovery community in Brent and supports the day-to-day work that helps residents move forwards in their lives. Our thanks to support workers Frank and Angelina for their commitment and to the National Lottery Community Fund for its ongoing support.
