John’s first bank account

Last week, Kairos resident John* opened his first-ever bank account. He’s over 50 years old.

“John arrived at Kairos not just without a bank account, he’d never had one,” says his Kairos support worker. “Over the past four months, we’ve been working hard together to obtain photo ID, so John could apply for an account, but this proved very difficult because of his circumstances. However, we did eventually find a bank that would accept an application with the documentation we had managed to research. It’s been a huge confidence-booster for John and it’s given us a wonderful sense of job satisfaction. Everyone’s smiling.
