A poem that left a lasting impression
Last week, Kairos Director Mossie Lyons and support worker Giampiero Mozzi joined CRASH Charity for their 30th anniversary celebrations. Mossie shared a special poem written by Giampiero. It left a lasting impression on everyone present.
Many guests, deeply moved by the poem, asked for copies afterwards. Several people also suggested creating a dedicated space for the poem so its message can continue to inspire others. We are proud to share it here.
What We Carry ForwardWe are people with historynot the kind written neatly, but the kind etched into nights survivedand mornings we didn’t think we’d see.We know the weight of wanting to disappearand the courage it takesto stay. From that same broken ground,a team was formednot perfect, but present. What once hurt usnow teaches us how to listen. What once nearly took our livesnow shows us how to help save another’s.I give thanks to the organisationthat opened a doorwhen I had no strength left to knock. You did not ask who I had beenyou showed me who I could become.I give thanks to the people I work for,who believe recovery is not an endingbut a beginning with responsibility. And I give thanks to the people I work withwalking proofthat pain can be transformedinto purpose. This gratitude is not quiet. It breathes. It shows up.It stays.Giampiero Mozzi
