Driving forward in Brent

The days are getting longer, the sunshine is creeping in and up in north London things have been ticking along steadily. It’s a good moment to share an update from Kairos’ Brent-based Move-on team.
Kairos’ north London supported housing programme offers through-the-gate stability and support to men and women in recovery, with experience of the criminal justice system, on release from custody. All three community houses are currently full, with residents settled and actively engaged.
“Our efforts to create a safe and welcoming space have been successful and residents are making positive strides in their journeys and recoveries,” said Frank McDonald, support worker for the project. “We’ve seen even more success and tests passed with UR4Driving, and many residents are making good use of the weekly one-to-one support from our two on-site counsellors. Volunteering continues to be a positive step, with several residents keen to build new careers in the health and social care field. Others are preparing for their next steps and getting ready for more independent living soon.”
The community is staffed by a small, regular team of one male and one female support worker, alongside a committed volunteer. This consistent support plays a vital role in helping residents move forward.
It’s a strong, transformative picture and one we are proud to share. In Frank’s words: “We work to create a community that promotes rehabilitation and personal growth. All our residents are currently well settled and enjoying their recovery.”
